Welcome to The Process, an isolated retreat on the North Devon Coast, where five participants come seeking help but discover far more than they bargained for.

Five delegates have assembled to face up to their issues. David, a hotshot lawyer, must overcome the perpetual sense that he is an outsider. Sujitha, a veteran German traveller, is an outsider too – in her home country. Sheila, a middle-aged executive, keeps on falling for charming but narcissistic men. Nathan appears to be totally together – what’s his problem? Lola needs to balance her desire for independence with her traditional British Asian family. Louise, the therapist, has risen from poor roots in Brooklyn and seems totally in control – but does she have her own unresolved issues too?

And alongside them is Jacob, the mysterious creator of The Process, whose dark past has up until now, been largely undetected. But technological changes are fast catching up with the other side to his ‘creativity’. What will happen if his two worlds collide?

Self help meets suspense

The Process is Robbie’s first work of fiction, here is what he has to say about what inspired him to write it. ‘People who create remarkable things can also be deeply flawed. I believe everyone wants a happier life but many don’t know where to start. I wrote this book to offer readers some of the benefits of a retreat like The Process—without the cost or time commitment—and to deliver a gripping story at the same time.

I’ve always felt that too many self-help books are repetitive, overly earnest, and frankly hard work. My goal was to prove self-help can be fast-paced, fun and exciting. So I combined the suspense of a crime thriller with practical insights for personal growth. I hope readers will see themselves in the characters’ struggles and experience their own vicarious healing journey—while enjoying a thrilling, page-turning read.’
